Dr. Lazzara was appointed Principal of Sparta High School in June 2021. He started his career teaching students with special needs and coaching football, basketball, and baseball.  He has also worked as a Vice Principal, Supervisor of Special Services, and Athletic Director.  Most recently, he served as Principal of Belvidere High School. Dr. Lazzara holds his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, a Master of Arts in Special Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Business. Dr. Lazzara resides in Sparta with his wife Maura and their family.  Dr. Lazzara is proud to serve the community in this capacity and honored to be a part of this outstanding school district. 

Mrs. Barker was appointed Vice Principal of Sparta High School in July 2019.  Prior to becoming SHS Vice Principal, Mrs. Barker served as Supervisor of Humanities in the Butler school district after teaching English at SHS for 12 years.  She also served as Varsity Girls Soccer coach, assistant track coach, and literary magazine advisor throughout her tenure as a SHS teacher. Mrs. Barker holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education as well as a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership.  As a Spartan alumni, Mrs. Barker is honored to serve her hometown, students, and colleagues in new capacities.

Ms. Kopf was appointed Vice Principal of Sparta High School in February 2022. She began her career in 2006 as a Biological Sciences Teacher.  She served as an Anti-Bullying Specialist, Track & Field Coach, Cross Country Coach, and Class Advisor throughout her time in the North Plainfield and Belvidere school districts. She most recently served as the Dean of Students in Randolph High School. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science Education from Rutgers University and a Master of Arts in Secondary Biological Science Education and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.
