Key Club

Key Club is a community organization whose mission is to involve teenagers in giving back to their community. Key Club is sponsored by the local Sparta Kiwanis Club. Each year we participate in many activities including working at the Family Fall Festival, helping to run a New Year's Eve Day party for Sparta senior citizens, Stuff the Bus food donations, and so much more. Students can volunteer in as many events as they wish, so it's a flexible club where all can participate. We believe that together we can make a difference!

Peer Development Program (PDP)

The Peer Development Program (PDP) is designed to help freshmen learn about various opportunities the high school offers and to help develop social and emotional learning skills, such as decision-making, goal-setting, student engagement, and peer-to-peer relationships. Upperclassmen lead small groups, creating a nurturing environment for the freshmen. It also serves as an opportunity for upperclassmen to display leadership skills in a unique setting.

SHS Food Rescue Clubgram (PDP)

The SHS Food Rescue Club will collect unopened and untouched food from students during lunch for the purposes of donating it to local food pantries and shelters. By logging all the food items that are saved from potentially being deposited into landfills, we will be able to estimate not only the amount of food saved but also the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Some activities for student leaders include: organizing food pick-ups and drop-offs, scheduling drop-offs at Sparta Food Pantry, figuring out how to raise money to buy a refrigerator to hold perishable foods, and organizing food donation competitions during the holidays.
